Default cannot open a word file. file name or path is invalid

The word file I was working with was closed properly and the system was shut
down. The next day when I tried to open the file the following message
appears.
"The document name or path is invalid"
*check the file permissions for the document or drive
*use the file open dialog box to locate the document
(C:\My Documents.....\)

Have you checked the file permissions and tried using the File Open dialog
to locate the document?

If this was a document you opened from an e-mail attachment then unless you
saved it specifically to the document area of your hard drive it is buried
amongst the temporary files on your hard drive and may have already been
deleted. Always save to the hard drive before opening documents from e-mail
messages.
If this is not the case, see How to re-register Word when problems crop up
opening files
