Default Font change in paste action and auto text

I am running Word 2003 with a default font of Times New Roman 12. Often when
I use the paste function or auto text, the font changes to some Sans Serif
font, size 10. Any idea why this happens? It's easily fixed but annoying and
puzzling.

Use Edit | Paste Special | Unformatted text.
