How do you change a read-only word back to a word document?
I have a word document saved as a read-only, I need to change it back to a
Microsoft word document. |

Hello-
It depends on how it was made Read Only. If as a Windows file attribute, right-click the file icon, choose Properties and remove the Read Only check (while the file is _not_ open). Make sure there is a check in the box for 'Archive'. If it is a Word setting, it depends on which version of Word you are using - which you don't mention. Assuming 2002(XP)/2003, the Read Only setting may have been applied in ToolsOptions--Security, but you will need to know the password to remove the setting. Otherwise, go to ToolsProtect Document, then remove the Editing Restrictions check in the Task Pane.
