Default lost text, accidentally saved the doc. is there any way2get back

i had saved a document in progress to a removable disk. i took the disk out
for a second and then plugged it back in, while the document was open. this
messed up several pages worth of text (now it is all boxes). then, i
accidentally saved it because i hadn't noticed the mistake. is there any way
to recover my original text??????

Was the option to "Always create backup copy" checked on the Save tab
of ToolsOptions? If not, I'm afraid you won't be able to retrieve
your text.
