There doesn't seem to be a KB article on this subject for any version later
than Word 97, but the techniques are the same even though you may find the interface slightly different. See "How to Delete Words from Custom Dictionaries in Word" at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=86557 In short, go to the Spelling & Grammar tab of Tools | Options, click the Custom Dictionaries... button, select the desired dictionary (in most cases there will be only one, Custom.dic), and click Modify. You'll get a dialog window listing the contents. Scroll to find the the unwanted word, select it, and click Delete, then OK out. -- Suzanne S. Thank you Suzanne. I did do that, but the word is not there. I looked
through all the dictionaries that are there and the word is not there. So I thought that maybe it wasn't saved. So I went out of Word and then back into it, typed the word wrong again and it still did not show up that it was mis-spelled. It showed that it was spelled correctly. Any other suggestions? Quoting from Word Help:
Add, delete, or edit words in a custom dictionary 1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Spelling & Grammar tab. 2. Click Custom Dictionaries. 3. Select the dictionary you want to edit. Make sure you do not clear its check box. 4. Click Modify. 5. Do one of the following: €¢ To add a word, type it in the Word box, and then click Add. €¢ To delete a word, select it in the Dictionary box, and then click Delete. €¢ To edit a word, delete it, and then add it with the spelling you want. In that case, either it is in the main dictionary or it is formatted as "no
proofing." To check on the second possibility first, select the word and go to Tools | Language | Set Language. Make sure that the correct language is selected and that "Do not check spelling and grammar" is not checked. If all is as it should be language-wise, then perhaps the word you think is wrong is really an obscure (but correct) word. You can still force Word to mark it as incorrect by adding it to an exclusion dictionary; see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/Ex...ordFromDic.htm -- Suzanne S.
