Default watermark won't delete; moves to 2nd pg of doc when 1st page cut

Cannot get watermark text off document; first page deleted, watermark text
moves to second page of document. Tried the regular word help suggestions
and no use. How can I get rid of it?

The watermark is anchored in the header. I'm guessing there's now a First
Page Header, which doesn't have a watermark, but the regular header does.

View | Header Footer. Go to second page. Put cursor in Header. With the
cursor in the header, you should be able to select and delete the watermark.

If that doesn't work, you need to state Word version, and be explicit about
what you have already tried, and say how the watermark was created in the
first place.
