Default Hyperlinks and DFS

We use DFS file systems in our office and need to create hyper links within
word documents to files on this DFS file system.

When we enter the hyperlink as follows:

\\companyname.com\files\released_docs\specificatio n.doc

it works fine wil the document id open. But as soon as you save the document
and re-open it the hyperlink gets changed to

.../../../../released_docs\specification.doc

When other try to access the file the link is invalid.

Does anyone know a work around for this issue?

Thanks
Shawn

Hello

This this fixes this problem:
And i found it in the Excel help files and not google!!!

Set a hyperlink base for a document
Use this procedure when you want to set the path for all the hyperlinks in
a document ? for example, when you are creating a document for your
company's intranet, and you want to link to a series of corporate logos
that are stored in a group of subfolders on the intranet. If you do not
specify a hyperlink base, the paths to hyperlinks are relative to the
document they are contained in.

Open the document you want to set a hyperlink base for.

On the File menu, click Properties, and then click the Summary tab.

In the Hyperlink base box, type the path you want to use for all the
hyperlinks you create in this document.
Note You can override the hyperlink base by typing the full address for
the hyperlink in the Insert Hyperlink dialog box instead of selecting a
file from the list. This sets the path to the hyperlink as a fixed file
location.
