Default Can't set 'Open With' to Word 2007

Although I can access earlier versions of Word docs by opening Word 2007 and
then opening the document, when I double-click on an earlier document for
example on the desktop I can't set 'Open With' to Word 2007. I browse to
where I think Word is, ie. Program Files / Microsoft Office / Office12 /
Winword.exe but when I click OK it doesn't 'save' that location as the
default Open With. Have tried checking the 'always use' box.

Any ideas? Thanks

Hi ?B?TmljaG9sYXMgSg==?=,

Hmmm. No problems here; it's actually part of the installation default.

Have you installed 2007 in parallel with another version? Over another version
(replacing it)? On a clean Windows installation?

(Note that you should probably take this question, with the additional
information, to the office.setup newsgroup, as you're more likely to encounter
specialists there)

Installed on new machine with Vista. Installed Office 2000 then uninstalled
before installing 2007. I;ll try the newsgroup as you suggest. Thanks
