Default curser speed

I use Word 2002. While editing text (and occasionally typing a text) I find
the cursor speed and letter image-reproduction to be very slow. What
accounts for this?

Uncheck the Norton AV office plug in option (if used)

I have an old (freebie hand-me-down) laptop that I occasionally use a t
work. Believe me when I say that I know what it's like to type a sentence
and then go make a cup of tea while the computer sloooooooooooooowly grinds
out my text. ;-)
