Default How do I auto-correct punctuation after quote marks?

After typing something like: "Let's not go there" said Jeff
I would like to auto correct to add a period at the end (afterJeff)
How would I get this done?
I am using Office 2003 Word.

Given that Word is not psychic, you will have to create autotexts for each
unique sequence or the result will be chaos. For this example simply
pressing the appropriate key would be far the most sensible option, but you
may get away with creating an autocorrect of said Jeff. from said Jeff
