Grow or shrink entire table.
Windows XP
Word 2000 How can I increase or decrease the size of cells all in sync? (Make the whole table proportionately larger or smaller?) I went to the MVP page: http://word.mvps.org/faqs/tblsfldsfm...ableToPage.htm and followed these instructions: In Word 2000 you can select Table + Properties, click on the "preferred width" checkbox; where it says "Measure in", change it to "percent", and in the width spinbox, type 100%. The relative column widths are preserved in the resized table. But dragging the last cell to the right still only changes the size of that particular column of cells. |

When dragging, only the size of the selected column or cell(s) is
affected; there is no way around that. The only way to preserve the relative widths of columns is to set a percentage width for the entire table (as explained in the article). To make the table fit between margins, set the table width to 100%; if you want it smaller, use a value smaller than 100%. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "SF" wrote in message ... Ah!
Dragging cannot be used for the entire table. So that explains it. Thanks, Stefan. "Stefan Blom" wrote in message ... BTW, Stefan:
Is there any way to make rectangular cells (the default shape of a new table) into square cells? "Stefan Blom" wrote in message ... Grow or shrink entire table.
Just specify a fixed height for the table rows: On the Table menu,
click Table Properties. Click the Row tab. Check "Specify height", type the desired value, and then choose "Exactly" for "Row height is". The setting applies to any row(s) selected when you opened the dialog box. (Note that you can use the Next Row/Previous Row buttons to move between rows.) If you want to be able to re-use a table with this (or some other) formatting, select it and create an AutoText entry from it. -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "SF" wrote in message ... Grow or shrink entire table.
Dragging cannot be used for the entire table.
It can... In Page Layout view you should see a little white box on the bottom right, which you can drag. Regards, Klaus |

Yes, dragging can be used to *move* an entire table, but not to
*resize* it! -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Klaus Linke" wrote in message ... Dragging cannot be used for the entire table. It can... In Page Layout view you should see a little white box on the bottom right, which you can drag. Regards, Klaus |

Hmm... Sorry, Klaus, I misread your post. I was thinking of the symbol
at the top of the left side of the table... So, indeed, you can drag to change the size of the table, but you have to be careful so that you don't change the *height* of rows as well! -- Stefan Blom Microsoft Word MVP "Stefan Blom" wrote in message ... Glory, Hallelujah! I'm a happy camper. Thanks Klaus and Stefan. I learned a lot, and ended up getting what I wanted after all. Ahhh. Life is good. "Stefan Blom" wrote in message ... Hmm... No need to thank me. I provided an incorrect answer. :-(

Grow or shrink entire table.
Hi Stefan,
Don't be so hard on yourself!! I had to look to make sure, too, since I have rarely used that "feature". :-) Klaus |
