I have word 2002 when i open a template it show as a red x in the corner

Sounds as if this is a graphic object that has "gone bad". I suggest you contact
the person/company who supplied you with the template for a fresh copy of the
template or for the original graphic so that you can reinsert it.

Well the same template works fine on other computers, and other templates
work fine on the problem computer it's just this computer with this one
template that shows like that what else can it be?
