Default Cursor sometimes appears small, what does this indicate?

sometimes without any changes made by me, the cursor appears very small no
matter the font size. It only effects Word and although I can still,
seemingly, do everything I am worried that this may indicate a problem. I
have restarted my computer, conducted a 'restore', even changed the general
cursor settings. Nothing works, eventually during another startup, it is
back to normal without explaination. Can anyone tell me why the cursor
changes like that? Does this indicate a virus or other simular problem? any
response on this issue would be greatly appreaciated.

Default

That particular problem has been much reported lately. The "fix" seems to be
to change the Zoom to a large (or small) size and then back to "normal."
