Default File paths for Word and Exel

I am looking to create default file paths for Word and Excel documents along
the footer and have not come up with any solutions other than inputting the
path manually. (Shocker for time)

The aim is for anyone who views them can find them easliy in our shared
drive.

I have seen this done before but I am unsure about how to make sure the
default is constantly updated according to the path it is saved on.

Default

You can easily place the filename and path in the footer using a
{filename/p} field in the document template (do not do this in normal.dot as
it woild have knock-on effects for other document types that use normal.dot
e.g. labels), however fields placed in header/footers are reluctant to
update automatically and you are unlikely to make it respond to changes in
path without updating the field.
