Everytime I open word now, the template menu appears taking up half the
screen space. How do I keep it from appearing?

1. Open Word
2. Uncheck the "Show at Startup" checkbox at the bottom of the New Document
taskpane
3. Close the Taskpane
4. Close Word
5. Open Word

Is it fixed?

If this doesn't fix it, you need the Task Pane Controller add-in from
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customizat...owTaskPane.htm
