Default How to turn autoformatting off.

I want to turn off all autoformatting features in Word 2003. I don't
want it to decide for me what I want to type. Only I know that.
Currently it has decided that I want to start every freaking line with
a dash. Everyone I know hates this feature in Word by the way.

Also does anyone know how to reset the settings back to the factory
default? I unchecked about every switch in a vain attempt to turn off
the auto formatting.
