Closing Word Documents - Get Normal Document
Whenever I close a Word 2002 document, I quickly get a document entitled
"normal" which then quickly closes out. This is a nuisance more than anything else. Is there something I can do to prevent this from happening? Thanks, Steve |

This suggests that your Normal.dot is being saved every time you quit Word.
Not normal. I would suggest that you enable the option "Prompt to save Normal template" on the Save tab of Tools | Options. If you are prompted to save Normal.dot every time you quit Word, then see €śWord prompts me to save changes to the Normal.dot template€ť at http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/as...514521033.aspx -- Suzanne S. Thanks for your suggestion but it did not work.
I am using Nortion Antivirus 2004 so I looked at the araticle you suggested. I then did the following: I disabled the Office Plug-in box in Norton Antivirus and I enabled Prompt to Save Normal Template on Tools /Options. Nothing changed. It's status quo. I never got a Prompt to Save Normal Template. After that, I restored everything back to the original (turned on Office plug-in in Norton and unchecked the box for prompt to save normal template. Still no change. Other ideas would be welcome. Thanks. Steve "Suzanne S. Barnhill" wrote: This suggests that your Normal.dot is being saved every time you quit Word. Not normal. Go back and disable the plug-in in Norton; leave the box to prompt before
saving normal.dot checked. Charles: I disabled the plug-in in Norton and checked the box to prompt
before saving normal.dot. Still no relief from my original problem. Any suggestions? Attend to orphan temp files -
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm Then check for errant add-ins and/or corrupt normal.dot file - see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/...peningWord.htm and leave that Norton AV plug-in off. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org Steve M wrote: Charles: I disabled the plug-in in Norton and checked the box to prompt before saving normal.dot.
