Font error "The number must be between 1 and 1638"
Word 2003 has font errors one one page that includes both normal text and an
automatic (Endnote) field. Text appears white on a black background. Any attempt to modify font generates the error: "The number must be between 1 and 1638" |

Font error "The number must be between 1 and 1638"
Yup! That page is well-and-truly corrupted. The error you are seeing
refers to the point size limits of a Word character. Try saving the file as "Plain Text" and see if you can get the text out without any formatting. If you can, you can re-format it in a fresh blank document. If you can't save as plain text, you will need to use FileOpen and set the Type to "Recover text from any file". Don't copy anything from the existing document: the internal structure of the file is completely broken and it will just copy the error.
