My templates aren't activated - Word 2003
Hi,
I'm running Word 2003 on a WinXP (SP2) os. Whenever I try to create a new document using any of my templates (File=New=select a template), I get a blank window. The templates, however, do exist. When I run a search for a dot file, I find then all. I can open a template file, save it as doc, and continue my work. Still, that's not the way the program is designed to act. What's wrong? Why can I use template in a conventional fashion? Ran |

Two things -
1. You cannot open a Word template and save it as a document. it will always be a template, whatever extension suffix you add. 2. Try re-registering Word - http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ReRegisterWord.htm. Actually, for some bizarre reason, W2003 _does_ let you save a template as a
document, stripping out any AutoText. I think this was a _bad_ change, but it is there. -- Charles Kenyon Word New User FAQ & Web Directory: http://addbalance.com/word Intermediate User's Guide to Microsoft Word (supplemented version of Microsoft's Legal Users' Guide) http://addbalance.com/usersguide See also the MVP FAQ: http://www.mvps.org/word which is awesome! --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- --------- This message is posted to a newsgroup. Try updating your installation to include the templates.

That depends on whether starting it normally causes the problem to recur. If
it remains OK - leave it alone. -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org chermesh wrote: Thanks Graham.
