Default losing data in comboboxs

HI there - I have been bungling my way around these combo boxs!!
I have copied some VBA code from here that allows me to popualte the drop
downs on the combo boxes - great!!
Although I have a few problems
1) When I save close and reopen the doc the data in the drop downs is gone
and I have to do back into the view code screen and run the sub forms
2) Also it is a questionnarie - I would like to protect the doc but still
have the drop downs work - options?
3) is there a code I can use that can be run when the docment is opened to
ensure the fields are populated?

NB- I do not have any knowledge of VBA programming! So please be easy on me!

Thanks

Sounds like you should be using a dropdown formfield rather than a combobox.
