Default hyperlinks change on closing and reopening file

Once setting hyperlinks to a local server address, the links change upon
closing and reopening the same ??.doc file. This only started happening on
upgrading to WORD 2002 from '97. I suspect it has to do with relative vs
absolute links. I have found a work around: if I put a "\" in the hyperlink
base box under File - Properties, the hyperlinks stay the same and function
but the internal links (like to a table) get hosed up. Is this a bug or just
a case of ignorance?

Hi ?B?SnJD?=,

See if turning off the option to update links on save in
Tools/Options/General/Web options makes any difference. This was originally
intended to only work when saving as HTML, but in 2002 it started working on
*.doc files, as well. A real PITA.
