how do you make a table of contents to include 3 separate files?
Does each document have to have it's own TOC? |

What you want to do is use RD fields (best take a look into Word's offline help to get the syntax right) to reference the 3 other documents and then use a normal TOC. Does each document have to have it's own TOC? No, you don't compile the information from individual TOCs.
