Copying or porting a toolbar
Hi, I created a custom toolbar in a template and it seems it is tied to the
template only. I want to copy or port this toolbar into another template. I've tried "templates & add-ins" but, obviously, can't figure it out so I came here. Thanks |

If you save the toolbar in Normal.dot, it will be available to all
documents. Or you can save the template in which it is saved in Word's Startup folder, where it will become a "global" template, and the toolbar will be available to all documents. -- Suzanne S. It applies to all versions of Word. The path to the Startup folder is given
in the File Locations (in Word 2003 and earlier, this is on the File Locations tab of Tools | Options). Global templates are explained at http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customizat...latesStore.htm -- Suzanne S. Word 2007/2010 do not support toolbars so you cannot readily port a toolbar
to those versions - however see http://www.gmayor.com/Toolbars_in_word_2007.htm . You can however port ribbon customizations and QAT entries via add-in templates. The startup folder is a normally hidden folder which (if you have not moved the default location) can be located by typing or copying %appdata%\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP into the address bar of Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer (not Firefox). -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org "Opinicus" wrote in message ...
