Slow Open directory read
I access Word docs across a network on a MS 2000 Server. The directory
contains 10,000 docs. When I use the Open file window in Word 2000 from my MS 2000 Pro workstation the resulting directory of docs appears almost immediately. However, if I then attempt to Open a second document, the resulting directory of docs takes over 23 seconds to appear. If I close out the first document and then click on Open the docs appear almost immediately. This long wait was not a problem when I was previously using a Windows 98SE computer as a server. Accessing the same directory through file Explorer is fast. What can I do to resolve this long wait when attempting to open more than one document? |
