Default Wildcard replacement of characters and style

I am trying tthis with wildcards checked in Word 2000:

Find: (&?)
Style: tw4winInternal

Replace: /1
Style: Plain text

I find &F, &C etc without problems, but when I click Replace (or Replace
all), the style tw4winInternal is not replaced by Plain Text.

Am I doing something wrong? What can I do?

Try this, instead:

Find what:&^?
Style:tw4winInternal

Replace with:[leave empty]
Style: Plain text

Use wildcards: OFF

Herb, thanks. However, it seems as if tw4winInternal is locked. I have
tried to highlight and change in the style window, but it does not work
either.

Hello again, Herb.

I had to do one change to your suggested method:

Find what:&^?
Style:tw4winInternal

Replace with:[leave empty]
Style: Default Paragraph Font (instead of Plain Test)

Then it worked (someone told me about this in a discussion list).
