How do I update the footer with the text entered into a field in the
WORD document?

In other words, I need to have a field (say field A) in footer linked
to a field (say field B) in WORD document such that:

1. When field B is updated field A updates (shows text in field B)
automatically.

2. Vice versa does not happen.

Can someone help, please?

If these are form fields, you will need to run a macro on exit from the
field to update the footer - you'll find suitable code at
http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm Alternatively format the field in
the document with a unique character style and use a Styleref field in the
footer to call that style.

I am not sure how to "Format the field in
the document with a unique character style".

However, I can do Insert-Field-StyleRef-[style of the field in
document] to "use a Styleref field in the
footer to call that style."

Never mind, I did Format-Styles and Formating...-New Style-[Unique
Name for style]

Just make sure you set the style type to character style or you will
reproduce the whole paragraph.
