When you save the document as text (.txt) you will get a box allowing you to
choose from a variety of formats, including this one.

Hi ?B?SnVzdGx1?=,

How do I add the ms dos text with line breaks format to word 2003?

You mean as a "Save format" to the list of file types?

You'd have to have the file converter that was distributed with
earlier versions of Office. If you put that in the same folder with
the other file converters, it should show up in the list.

Microsoft discontinued a number of file converters as part of its
security measures over the last few years. Many of the file
converters were created by third parties, so Microsoft had no access
to the code and couldn't sign it as "safe". The most important ones
were re-written, others were discontinued.

I copied Txlyt32.cnv from my good ol' Win98 machine with Word 2000 to
C:\Program Files\Comman files\Microsoft shared\Text Conv\ in my new machine
with Word 2003. It doesn't show up on the list and I can't save as .asc
(MS-DOS text with layout). I would like to have it to save code - the indents
are really helpful.
