After my son typed a document two days ago, the page set up is locked on
Landscape and the defaults and any changes will not take. An error message
does
appear stating that decreasing the right margins can affect the size of
columns if used.....or somethgin to that extent.

In the control panel, open the printer folder, right-click your printer, click
printing preferences.., change to portrait.

Go to Format | Columns and check the box for One (even if it's already
selected).
