Default change margins from metric to imperial

Somehow I can not figure out how to change Page Setup "under Margins" from
Metric to Imperial. ( the USA measurements) Could someone please explain how
to change it back.

In Word, click on Tools | Options | General | Measurement units: Inches
| OK. Or if the "metric" measurements are actually character units
(ch), then see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=299339 "You cannot
change ruler measurement unit from character units after upgrade to
Office XP".

You have saved me from pulling out more of my hair. I can't understand how it
changed from inches to metric in the first place. I thank-you very much. plus

These are not metric units - but character units; and it changed because of
a minor bug, probably related to the application's ability to use far
eastern languages.
