I am using Word 10.0, Norton AV and Windows XP Pro. When ever I do a File
Save As it takes 10 sec to open the first window, then another 10 seconds to
navigate to the folder I want and then another 10 sec to open the folder I
want to save the doc into. I notice in the Word doc on the lower left side of
the screen the words "requesting virus scan". I have contact Norton AV and
they are stumpted why it is doing this, so is my local computer shop. Has
anyone ever had this problem or have a suggestion? Please respond to my

I can't imagine that Symantec is stumped, since it is the Office Plug-in in
Norton AntiVirus that is generating the "requesting virus scan" message. For
a variety of reasons, you're much better off disabling the plug-in, which
doesn't compromise your virus protection provided you leave Auto-Protect
enabled.
