Word 2003 - Save As
I created a template in Word 2003 for group use. A lot of people have opened
it and used it then saved the resulting document. However, there are some other users that can open the template but cannot do a Save As. The template works but cannot be saved. The template does have some protected sections and I tried turning that off but it still doesn't work. I have never seen this before. Any ideas? Also one of the users has a problem where once he tries to do a Save As that doesn't work then tries to close the Word application, he can't. It appears to close but automatically reopens and this loop continues until he reboots. I've never seen this before either. I'm thinking this might be a Windows issue but thought I would run it past you anyway. Any help witll be appreciated. -- Barbara R |

Word 2003 - Save As
If you 'create new' documents from the template as intended instead of
'opening' it and saving it as something else, you should not have this problem -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org "Barbara" wrote in message ... Word 2003 - Save As
That was one of the things I tried. They still couldn't save the document.

Word 2003 - Save As
Does the template have a macro called FileSave or FileSaveAs that is
intercepting the save routine? Those users who allow macros to run would then run that macro when trying to save. Otherwise if you create a new document from a template that document is unnnamed and users should be able to save it provided they have write access to the save location. What happens when they try? -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org "Barbara" wrote in message ... That was one of the things I tried. Word 2003 - Save As
It does nothing. It's like the Save As is disabled.
