Default Copy and paste Russian in Word to other application

Hello,

I need to use the Russian text provided to me by PC user. The text was saved
as ".doc", I open and resave as ."rtf" in order to see the text. I could copy
and paste the text in the same document (Word), but when I paste it in Quark
(Mac), the text display as underscores. I selected them and tried with
anything with Cyrillic font. It didn't work. How can I do this?

I'm in Mac, current Word version 2004.

Thanks,

MQ

Hello!

Under MS Windows, on a non-Russian PC, we have similar problems during
Copy/Paste of Russian (really it's for any language that is not in line
with
System Code Page of a computer) and solutions are listed in
Chapter 2 of section "Unicode related issues" of the site
"Cyrillic (Russian): instructions for Windows and Internet" -
http://RusWin.net

if they do not make any sense under your Mac then look at these
well-know
'Russian in Mac' sites:
