Default Unwanted Page "Breaks"

I have used every version of Word since Word for Windows 1.0 to 2003. I have
unwanted breaks between pages (no manual page breaks AT ALL). For instance,
in my 350 thesis, the introduction (just simple text) is 4 pages long,
although the text can easily fit in 2 1/2 pages. The second page stops half
way down the page (seen in print preview) and the next paragraph starts on
the next page. Again, there are no manual page breaks. I tried selecting the
4 pages and in format paragraph, I check "keep with next" and "keep lines
together" to no avail. I tried deleting the paragraph mark ("show all" is
always turned on) and the paragraph is on a full page. When I press enter at
the end of the sentance to form a new paragraph, the problem reappears. There
is a section break before and after the 4 page introduction.

Are the paragraphs formatted to have a page break before?

Hope this helps.

No, but I seem to have corrected the problem by selecting the whole document
and formating the paragraph by keeping the "keep with next" checked but
UNchecking "keep lines together"

The problem is arising from the "Keep with next" and "Keep lines together"
formatting. You would be better off clearing both check boxes.
