TOC formatting problem
I have formatted my TOC with a single-level single style, added
numbering and borders, and changed to all-upper case. Then, as changes are made to the document, I go back to the TOC and do update field\update entire table. It updates the page number but all my nice formatting is gone!!!! |

TOC formatting problem
Provided your TOC styles are still set to update automatically (as they are
by default), changes you make to paragraph formatting should be propagated to the style. In my experience, this isn't always true of font formatting. It may be necessary to explicitly modify the style(s) in order to make these changes. -- Suzanne S. And it's not just the font, it's the upper-case, the borders, and the numbering (item number, not page number). Anyone? |

TOC formatting problem
The TOC should be getting the paragraph numbers from the headings
themselves. Note, too, that if you have Track Changes turned on, numbering will not be dependable until you've accepted all the changes. And I assume that the caps are added using All Caps formatting and not by manually changing the text in the TOC. When you modified the styles, did you check the box for "Add to template"? If not, make sure that "Automatically update document styles" is not checked in the Tools | Templates and Add-ins dialog. I don't think that styles would be updated from the template except when you open the document, but a field update might trigger this (since the TOC is "From template"). -- Suzanne S.
