Default Mergefields change Format

A mergefield (name) insists on changing to 16pt from 12pt, despite no 16pt
anywhere else in either document. I have looked at :
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/index.htm
as recommended (an extremely useful site - Many thanks) and followed the
instructions, but nothing has changed! :-
"Get mail merge to show the merge results in the same font in which the
mergefield is formatted
Display the field codes and add the character formatting switch to the field".

Example: { Mergefield Name \* CharFormat }

My mergefield looks identical to that above. Do I need to do something
further with the "Switch" ?
My thanks to Doug Robbins & Graham Mayor for previous advice.

Select the field and press F9 to update it. Then re-run the merge.

Thank you Graham. I had to remove a space from the equation, but it finally
worked. Once again many thanks for your help, and the other useful
information on your website - I've been able to use that to sort out several
other problems!
