Default Creating an index

-- I have been attempting to create an index using Microsoft Word 2007. I
have a document that includes 5 separate Word files (chapters 1-5). Total
pages of these 5 chapters is close to 800. Is there a way to create an index
that will pull automarked entries from each file and allow me to incorporate
into a separate index document, including updating as needed (much like the
automated TOC)? Any assistance is much appreciated.

You can do this with an RD field. See €œCreating a Table of Contents Spanning
Multiple Documents€ at
http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/P...cle.asp?ID=148 for general
principles; an index is handled similarly to a TOC.
