Default The size of ribbon buttons in 2007

I'm a newbie to 2007. (Just "upgraded" on Monday.)

Is there any way to adjust the size of the buttons on the ribbon in 2007?
They're HUGE compared to similar buttons in 2003. Buttons that used to be
about 1/4-inch square are now a half-inch wide and a full inch tall.

Thanks.

No.

If you feel the ribbon is taking up too much screen estate, and you don't
use it all that much while typing, you could consider hiding it.

Unfortunately, I don't do a lot of "typing." I am an editor, and I use the
buttons on the ribbon several thousand times a day. Very frustrating, having
to click back and forth on hundreds of ribbon options, when I'm used to
having my customized toolbars all right there together, with ALL the buttons
I needed on one screen instead of bouncing back and forth all the time.

Maybe I'll put all the commands I need on my QAT, and just dump the ribbon
altogether.

See http://www.gmayor.com/Toolbars_in_word_2007.htm
Or you may consider editing the ribbon to add a tab containing your commands
http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/Customize_Ribbon.htm
and don't forget that most of the commands available in earlier versions use
the same keyboard shortcuts in Word 2007.
