When I start a new document, the language the document uses for its text
correction is English (US). Only after setting a point, or after a hard
return, the language switches to the default language Dutch.

How can I get the language of the document to the default language Dutch?

Hi Michel,

Is your default WINDOWS input language US-English? You can see this if
EN is shown on the language bar. Word picks up the language to start
with from Windows. There is no way to change the language Word starts
out with in Word itself.
You can either switch the default input language to Dutch (Control
Panel, Regional and Language Options, Languages, Details) or if you have
a non-Dutch keyboard add Dutch as a language, but with a US-English
keyboard and then make it the default.
