Windows Explorer cannot live in a Word document (any version). Can you

So it sounds as if you are opening the document in Windows Explorer instead
of in Word. This may be a result of an incorrect file association. You can "reregister" Word to reestablish its association with the .doc file type in the Windows Registry; see http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/ReRegisterWord.htm. -- Suzanne S. I had *no* idea you could register doc files to Windows Explorer. Wow.
Some small part of me wants to go do that just to see what it looks like. The rational part, OTOH, will just assume it looks weird. g Dan Suzanne S. Barnhill wrote: Glad I could help. Well, there's a menu on the Explorer toolbar that includes Edit with
Microsoft Office Word (also Excel, FrontPage, Notepad, depending on what you have). It may be that using that option would confuse Windows. -- Suzanne S.
