open file dialog question
In Word 2003 I have the system set so that if I type any part of the name of
a file all the files containing that part show up and I can then choose the correct one, eg folder contains files: report on smith report on fred report on fred 2 report on james typo on frederick If I type fred into the open dialog box I get a list of all the files containing fred: report on fred report on fred 2 typo on frederick and then I can choose which one I want. This does not seem available in Word 2007, that I can find. Is there anyway of getting similar functionality? I can no longer remember how I did it in Word 2003 either! Thanks Chris |

You are almost there
Type *fred* into the filename dialog and press enter. You will get all the filenames containg fred Type fred* into the dialog and press enter. You will get all the filenames beginning with fred -- Graham Mayor - Word MVP My web site www.gmayor.com Word MVP web site http://word.mvps.org ChrisBainbridge wrote: In Word 2003 I have the system set so that if I type any part of the name of a file all the files containing that part show up and I can then choose the correct one, eg folder contains files: report on smith report on fred report on fred 2 report on james typo on frederick If I type fred into the open dialog box I get a list of all the files containing fred: report on fred report on fred 2 typo on frederick and then I can choose which one I want.
