Default Modifying Headings

I have a document with 8 heading styles. When I first set them up, the first heading was not indented nor did it have a hanging or single first line special; Heading 2 had a .25 indent and a .75 hanging special; Heading 3 a .5 indent and a .5 first line special.

When I now open the document, the indents and specials have all changed in the Heading styles, and I am forced to modify them each time I open the document to get them back to where they were originally.

Any ideas how to fix this problem?
