You can't. The header and footer are in a different document layer or
"story" from the main document, and Word does not permit both layers to be accessible simultaneously. What you can do is add a "Go to TOC" toolbar button in Word 2003 (and possibly 2002); find this in Tools | Customize under All Commands as GotoTableofContents (this works for most TOCs; it does not work if you have any TOC entries generated by TC fields). In previous versions, you can use the Back button on (or from) the Web toolbar. -- Suzanne S. Entering a hyperlink in a footer
Thanks for the reply - I did what you said (on my computer) and it works
fine. I would like to be able to send the document to others and not have to give them instructions on how to do that. I copied the "button image" to the bottom of one pages in my doc and created a hyperlink out of it. That too works fine; however I will have to copy and paste it on 86 pages, just as if I were to type a "back button" on each page and create a hyperlink. Maybe there is no solution...once again, thanks. "Sparke" wrote: Hi Everyone, How do I keep a hyperlink active in a footer once the footer is closed? Indeed, there is no good way to accomplish this for other users, but I think
your solution is overkill. Most users will know how to use Back or Shift+F5 or even just Ctrl+Home to get back to the TOC. -- Suzanne S.
