Default Normal.doc shows up in my last five documents

I am using Word XP. When I load up Word the first document showing in my
last five documents is Normal.doc. I use Word XP at work on my work computer
and this does not happen.

Is the file name "Normal.doc" or "Normal.dot"?

If the latter then my first thought is you have an add-in creating a
new Normal.dot as an attempt to add customizations for the add-in.
Take a look under Tools/Templates and add-ins are there any add-ins in
the Global templates list? If so what are they?

I'm also wondering if you have found a piece to a mystery we are
currently trying to solve where the Normal.dot mysteriously ends up
containing the content of another document so please let us know what
you find - we're *very* interested in any details you can provide!
