Default Microsoft Word 2002 Page Numbering

I have a problem concerning the page numbering of my document. This is NOT
the header and footer page numbers I was looknig at the toolbar numbering
where it has:

Page 1 Sec 6 13/96.

Why is it saying page 1 instead of page 13? this is annoying me.

Because numbering is restarted in that section. Go into the header and
footer, choose Format Page Numbering on the Header and Footer toolbar, and
change the numbering to "Continue from previous section."
