editing symbols appear on page,
How do you turn off the visual appearance of symbols? Such as, everytime you
hit the return key, a Paragraph symbol appears on the page. |

The paragraph mark, ¶, also appears on a button on the toolbar in Word 2003 or earlier, and on the Home ribbon in Word 2007. Click it so it isn't pressed in. Or use the equivalent keyboard shortcut, Ctrl+Shift+8.
