Office 2003 Templates in Office 2007
Hello.
I have recently bought a new computer with Microsoft Office 2007. However I was fond of the Microsoft Office 2003 templates and would like to know if there is a way to use the 2003 templates in 2007. Many thanks. Dan Jones. |

I also would like to know if the letter wizard that was avaiable in office
2003 can be used in office 2007. If so, how & where. crownele "Dan Jones" wrote: Hello. I have recently bought a new computer with Microsoft Office 2007. If they're already in your Templates folder, just choose one from the Office button New dialog. If they're somewhere else (such as still on your old computer), copy them into your Templates folder first. If you want to change the templates so they create Word 2007-format files, open each template (use the Office button Open dialog and navigate to the Templates folder) and click Office button Convert, then save as a .dotx file (or, if it contains macros, as a .dotm file). Or you can just save some or all of the resulting documents as .docx files. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. |

Yes, the wizards will work, although they create Word 2003-format documents
in Compatibility Mode. For the Letter Wizard specifically: - Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Templates\1033 (or another number if you aren't using US English). - Copy the file "Letter Wizard.wiz". - Switch to the folder %appdata%\Microsoft\Templates and paste. - In Word 2007, click Office button New My templates. - Locate the Letter Wizard icon and double-click it. One thing that doesn't work right in 2007 is the letter icon in the default text that should restart the wizard when you double-click it. Because it tries to execute the LetterWizard command, which doesn't exist in 2007, nothing happens. If that really bothers you, you can open the LetterWizard.wiz file itself, right-click the icon and choose Edit Field, change "LetterWizard" to "InitiateWizard" in the field code, and save the file. The other thing that doesn't work -- and hardly anyone cares -- is that the Assistant (either Clippy or one of the others) won't appear in 2007; they've been removed from the product. -- Regards, Jay Freedman Microsoft Word MVP FAQ: http://word.mvps.org Email cannot be acknowledged; please post all follow-ups to the newsgroup so all may benefit. crownele wrote: I also would like to know if the letter wizard that was avaiable in office 2003 can be used in office 2007.
