Hello there, I am using Word 97, and I would like to now if it is possible to
have the font list in the Format toolbar set up so it shows the actual font
rather than just its name??

Thanks for your help

For Word 97 you could have this feature by using an add-in such as this one
http://wopr.com/vbapower/vbapower.htm

I've seen macros that will produce a document with a sample of each font. I
have one on my old computer but don't remember where I found it. I know I
used Google tho. I find that more useful that just seeing the name of the
font in that font. I may want to know hat a capital J looks like and unless
I want to use Jokerman font, I'd never know. ;-)

Hi JoAnn,

The file you're probably think of is Macros9.dot, which MS published in 1999. It can still be downloaded from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=EN
(url all one line)

Cheers

Or she may be thinking of the enhanced macro available from
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting...eGenerator.htm

Neither, however, is relevant to the question, which has to do with
displaying the font in the Font list on the Formatting toolbar ("List font
names in their font" at Tools | Customize | Options in later versions of
Word).
