Default Creating a dropdown list

How can I create a dropdown list and have arrows to the side to enable people
to make their selections.

I created a dropdown list but I have to double click to get the dropdown
menu to make my selection and even at that, the new selection does not
automatically replace to old item on the list unless you move the new item up
to the top of the list. Is there a way to just select a word(s) from the
list and click OK and get the word you need on the form?
