Default Can I use my Word 2000 CD in my new laptop?

I have a Word 2000 CD and I loaded it on my new laptop, after the trial
pre-loaded Word 2003 expired. It is not working properly. Does that mean
that I wil have to buy Word 2003 even if I was quite satisfied with my Word
2000?

Is Word 2000 a retail version, or did it come installed on another computer?
If the latter, it is an OEM version and is not licensed for your laptop. If
the former, did you uninstall Word 2003 before trying to install Word 2000?

Uninstall Word 2003 and restart your PC.
Run "Regedit" from Start--- Run... and find "Word 2003" entries, delete then
Now install your Word 2000
