Word 2007 - a symbol like a plus sign with arrow ends in a box appears in a
table document covering up part of the text. It can't be moved with mouse,
and right or left clicking only selects the entire document. It will appear
in different places in the document.

If it appears at the top left corner of the table, it is the table handle.
You can click on it to select the entire table, drag it to move the table
(caution: the table will become wrapped), or double-click it to open the
Table Properties dialog.
